Spandan Holistic Child Care Centre celebrated inauguration of new satellite clinic and organized Free Multidisciplinary Camp for Children with Neurological disorder, developmental disability and mental health problems on Sunday, 23rd November 2008 at Room no. 250, Bldg No. 7, P.M.G.P. colony, Opp. Shri Sai Vidyalaya, Mankhurd, Mumbai-400 043 & Siddhivinayak Temple, Opp.Building no. 93, New Mhada Colony, near P.M.G.P. Colony, Mankhurd (w), Mumbai - 43.

President of the function, Spandan Institutes Director & Founder Trustee Dr. Praful Barvalia welcomed & thanked our guests for being a part of Free Child Care Camp, after formal inauguration, &audiovisual presentation regarding activities of the institute. He briefed the audience about the Foundation’s journey since the time of inception. He briefed the audience about various projects that Spandan had undertaken over last decade & activities done by institute in form of satellite clinics in different areas of ‘M’ & ‘N’ wards, like Ramabai Nagar- Ghatkopar, Deonar & Mankhurd. He also shared the vision of building a holistic mother’s child hospital at Deonar.

Dr. Amit Daftary, Asst. Director, explained the people about the purpose of the Camp. He created an awareness regarding the activities done by the Spandan’s Homoeopathy Clinic in Mankhurd & Mobile Clinic in ‘N’ & ‘M’ Ward.

Mr.Vitthal Lokare, Corporator congratulated the Spandan team for doing excellent work in the field of disability. He praised our founder trustee, Dr. Barvalia for his hard work & vision. He was especially impressed with the work for the underprivileged section of the society. He promised to do extend total support for such noble cause by overcoming procedural hurdles. He lauded the holistic multidisciplinary approach & the team work for such a unique cause and assured of support from the Corporation.

Mr. Ramesh Wadhwani, the Precident of Rotary Club of Deonar, congratulated the Spandan team for doing excellent work in the field of disability and child care. He was truly impressed by the holistic multidisciplinary approach &the team work put up by the institute for such a unique cause. He added that the Doctors have been very enthusiastic, friendly and cooperative always and thus her experience with the institute has always been positive. He promised to extend total support for such a noble cause on behalf of the Rotary Club.

109 children with various kinds of disabilities like Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Learning disabilities, Slow learners, Mental retardation, Autism, ADHD, etc. were examined by the above mentioned faculties in the camp. Parents were explained regarding the diagnosis, prognosis, future options and various modes of therapeutic intervention, education and rehabilitation possible in these disabilities. They were also given educational material regarding these disabilities.

The multipurpose workers who attended the camp as volunteers from “ Crayon Project School’s benefited from the camp as well. The volunteers from the Siddhivinayak Trust extended their help for the smooth running of the events in the camp.

A Camp is like a Yagna for awareness. Awareness empowers an individual with knowledge.   Number of parents who have been running from pillar to post for their children’s treatment got an enlightening insight about their children’s state and what they must do for them to make their future bright.

The event was successful and unique in its appeal.
