Free Camp for Children with Disability
Felicitation of Brilliant Special Kids

B. Barvalia Foundation's Spandan Holistic Child Care Centre
organized a free camp for children with neurological disorders,
mental health problems & developmental disabilities on Sunday,
30th July, 2006. Eminent consultants from following
fields gave their services: Neurologist,
Paediatric Orthopedic Surgeon,
Homoeopaths,
Occupational therapists,
Special educators
Paediatrician,
Ortholmologist,
Psychologists,
Counselors
gave their services.
Camp was inaugurated by famous artist ‘Shaktiman’
Shri Mukesh Khanna who was the Chief Guest of the function.
Shri Sudheendeerji Kulkarni was the President of the function.
Following personalities were the guest of honour.

Dr. (Mrs.) Usha Desai – President, Rotary club of
Deonar
Mr. V. Kannan – Past president, Rotary club of Deonar
Rtn. V. M. Gandhi and Mr. Anand Mehta from the Leo Club.
On this conspicuous occasion we felicitated children from
our special school. 3 students from our slow learners’
section passed their SSC examinations this year. While 7 students
from our Autism section have been integrated in the mainstream
schools. It was an extremely emotional moment for children,
parents, our entire and those who were present. Mrs. Saroja
Mani, shared her experiences regarding those days when their
children were shunted out of their regular schools. During
these times of crisis with no support available, she came
to M. B. Barvalia Foundation, where Dr. Praful Barvalia, not
only gave them hope but also provided guidance at every step.
Parents & the children whole heatedly thanked Dr. Barvalia,
the teachers & the entire team for providing tremendous
care which eventually helped children reach this milestone.

Mr. Jain, a parent of autistic child shared the kind of improvement
seen in his son. He no longer showed any signs of Autism.
Earlier, he was asked to leave his regular school but after
3 years of tremendous effort by the team, he was completely
integrated in the mainstream school. He is a student of Swami
Vivekananda School, Chembur and he stood 1st in the class.
He whole heartedly congratulated the team of Spandan and the
kind of services that the foundation was providing.
Guest of honour Smt. Sarlaben Ganatra appreciated the foundation’s
efforts in providing holistic care at extremely cost effective
rates.
Rtn. Himmatbhai Lakhani extended wholehearted support to
foundation in its projects. He announced that Rotary Club,
Ghatkopar would extend its facilities for vocational training
to students of foundation’s special school.
‘Shatkiman’ Shri Mukesh Khanna urged the students
to be the Shaktiman in real life. He said that these young
students & their parents were the real superheroes.
He congratulated Dr. Praful Barvalia and his team for providing
these facilities for children, which specially impressed
him.
Shri Sudheendraji Kulkarni while describing the growth
of foundation recounted how a bud had blossomed into a huge
tree within a short span of 8 years.
Dr. Praful Barvalia described the current activities as
well as our future projects inicluding the hospital at Deonar.
During the camp, 150 children with different levels of
disabilities were examined, by the multidisciplinary panel,
300 parents were given orientation about the problems faced
by children as well as information about various modes of
therapeutic intervention, education & rehabilitation.
They were also given full educational material.
We encountered number of problems like ADHD, Learning disorders,
Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down syndrome, mental retardation,
epilepsy etc.
Leo club of Bombay-Uptown participated whole heartedly
in the entire event. 30 volunteers gave their services for
the camp.
