SPANDAN’S HOLISTIC INSTITUTE- CONCEPTUAL FRAME WORK
:
1. SPANDAN
Cosmic Energy is described as “Spandan”,
which really means vibration. Spandan or vibration also means
flow of cosmic energy through out cosmos.
Homeopathy is healing science, which believes in individual
as a whole and not a part. The basic tenants of the foundation
ca be summarized as follows:
- All the projects of the foundation are dedicated
towards correction of the unbalanced flow of energy.
- For this purpose, foundation utilizes holistic
potential of Homeopathy & Yoga to bring about the changes.
It strongly believes in Swami Vivekananda's
words that education is manifestation of perfection
resident in the individual. Value based education
at times brings out this perfection. Every human being has
divine potential. Society should make earnest effort to
explore this divine potential.
|
|
| |
| 2. Spandan focuses on application of vibrant
and holistic homoeopathy in its clinical services. Swami Vivekananda
has spoken about divine potential resident in each individual.
He taught us about education as the manifestation of perfection
resident in each man. One has to strive to explore this divine
potential. Society should create conducive environment so that
individual can realize such potential. This is possible if we
impart holistic care. Foundation makes humble efforts to translate
these concepts in various demanding situations. Application
is in the field of health and education. |

3. Integration of sensory processes is crucial
for the healthy development of the process of learning. Faulty
integration gives rise to number of anomalies contributing to
development of various learning as well as developmental and
behavioral disorders. Thus, it is essential to restore correct
sensation to deal with these disorders. Our institute skillfully
utilizes Homoeopathy, Yoga and Sensory integrative therapy for
this purpose. Vibrations are used for healing, vibrations are
created to receive pathos and sense of vibration is restored
to travel from disorder to order. Spandan causes |

4. Word “SPANDAN”
symbolizes this entire process
Leading exporter of garments is an active social worker. |
| |
| 5. Spandan’s Holistic childcare center
implements these concepts through multidisciplinary approach
and utilizes homoeopathic applications for children with developmental
disabilities and mental health problems. Similar holistic approach
is applied in number of clinical projects like HIV/AIDS, Rheumatology,
Respiratory disorders, skin diseases etc. This builds up powerful
platform to impart clinical training, value based education
and quality research for Homoeopathic interns, graduates, postgraduates
and practitioners. |
|

6. The foundation has made humble effort
to translate this concept in practice, which has resulted in
emergence of holistic psycho educational approach (Symphony).
This is based on sound teachings of the masters:
- Dr. Samuel Hahnemann
- Jean Piaget
The foundation has attempted to integrate practice of quadrangular
4 H i.e. concept of Head, Heart, Hand and Holistic inputs. |

What is this holistic approach?
SYMPHONY: HOLISTIC PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL
APPROACH
Perceiving child demands observing that infant in the mother’s
lap, receiving the first images, which the external world
casts upon the dark mirror of his mind. Child walks, talks
and acts with those images at the back. The psychosocial inputs,
which the child receives in the early formative years, are
crucial for the growth and development of the child. To understand
inner dynamics of the child, it is important to grasp his
environment --- his school, his parents etc. For “effective
learning” to take place in the child, he needs to receive
and assimilate concrete, consistent and balanced inputs. Whenever
there is disorder of learning, one should look back to all
these parameters. This will take us to philosophical, psychological
and physiological dimensions of LEARNING.
JEAN PIAGET’S work, we found extremely impressive and
showed maximum practical application. Perception is the cognitive
ability to receive and make sense of incoming stimuli. There
is relationship between perception and physical movement.
When a child traces a line, he alters the movement and direction
of his hand in response to feed back from visual information.
He believed that basic skills – eye-hand coordination,
temporal-spatial integration and form perception – must
be taught in their natural order of development. Children
who are weak in this area will demonstrate definitely in buttoning,
lacing, cutting, loasting, WRITING AND ALSO COPYING from the
Blackboard. They will get confused by shape, size and position
of objects. If one needs to correct them, they will need to
grasp “motor patterns” not isolated
skills – hence they will demand methods of “ACTION
LEARNING”.
Thus faulty integration of sensory processes become important
factor for causation and maintenance of various learning disorders.
These children do present with awkwardness, clumsy behaviour
and hyperactivity.
Here lies the role of Homoeopathic sciences. Various children
prototype – Homoeopathic profile describe these features.
Number of Homoeopathic drugs in the proving have brought out
characteristic features which we relate to learning disorders

Missing
stepsCritical interpretation of these patterns bring us to
conclude about the syndrome
which is similar to dysfunction
of sensory processing. We see defects in laterality, direction
spatial orientation etc.
You get evidence of various perceptual difficulties.
We can conclude that Homoeopathic medicines can positively
modify these defects. They are present in children with various
types of developmental disabilities.
These are fairly structured patterns which are integral component
of the system. They cannot be eradicated totally by medicines
but can suitably be modified by proper simillimum. This makes
them extremely receptive to other therapeutic measures, which
can consolidate these gains and enhance learning. What are
these measures?
1. Sensory Integrative Therapy
2. Neuro Physiological Approach
3. Neuro Developmental Approach |
|
| |
1. SENSORY INTEGRATIVE THERAPY:
This therapy looks at the different components of disabilities
from the viewpoint of brain function and its development. The
purpose of this approach is to construct a basis for learning.
This is done by preparing some conditions, situations, by purposeful
activities, under which the brain, which is the centre of information
processing and of ordering behavior, can function properly.
The idea of this approach is that the development of motor &
psychological functions can be promoted by ameliorating dysfunction
of sensory processing. The integration of the senses helps greatly
in gaining the image of one’s own body. When these senses
are integrated, higher activities such as learning is possible.
Poor sensory integration causes various developmental problems,
including clumsiness in movement, awkwardness, hyperactivity
and emotional instability. 2. NEURO PHYSIOLOGICAL
APPROACH:
In this approach functions of nervous system are studied. This
is essential for understanding and helping children with learning
difficulties. It is seen that the problems of children with
learning difficulties has linkage with brain dysfunction.
3. NEURO DEVELOPMENTAL APPROACH:
In this approach also function & dysfunction of Central
nervous sys-tem are studies from the development point of view.
This approach is widely used in cases with cerebral palsy and
Hemiplegia. The Primary, line of treatment handling is the inhibition
of abnormal movement pattern with the simultaneous facilitation
of normal righting and equilibrium reactions & other appropriate
natural movement patterns. |
|
Cognitive Approach
Cognition is the power of knowing. It results from
continuous creative integration between the organism & environment.
In this approach the various stages of the child’s growth
are taken into account and believed that certain learning tasks
can best be accomplished at certain stages of development. Facts,
concepts & generalization are to be taught in a similar
progression from the more concrete to the more abstract. The
belief that a child’s intellectual functions develop through
his activity and that he is intrinsically motivated by his natural
curiosity, hence the environment which gives opportunity to
explore, manipulate & have many concrete experiences leads
to good cognitive development. |
|
Psycho Analytical Approach
In this approach, the child’s emotional needs
are taken into account and are satisfied. Psychological development
is based on inter-relationship between maturation and experiences
and the new forms of behaviour are always based upon earlier
stages. Emphasis is put on development of self, dyadic &
group interaction. |
|
Rehabilitation Approach
The aim of this approach is the restoration of the
handicapped to the fullest physical, mental, social, vocational
& economical useful-ness of which they are capable.
|
|
Behaviour Therapy
Behaviour therapy draws on learning principles and
are aimed at helping people change theia behaviour.
For Holistic Intervention, Homoeopathy and Yoga
are two vital applications, which go along with each other.
Meditative & Cultural asanas have a significant impact
on the imbalance in psychic as well as physical energy.
Yoga is Awareness, Concentration & Excellence. Yoga helps
a lot in hyper kinetic children to improve the attention span.
We apply Yoga for behavioral modification & to enhance
intellectual faculties & growth. It is very useful method
to establish link between body and mind.
Apart from these other major obstacles to learning are as
under:
Accentuated
sensitivity, emotional instability of child
Deeper
intrapersonal and interpersonal conflicts
Aberrant
behaviour ---- ADD, Hyperactivity

Role of Homoeopathy
HOMOEOPATHY IN CHILD CARE
The physical, emotional, intellectual growth of the child depends
on various factors. Psychosocial inputs which the child receives
during early formative years are crucial among them. Any childhood
disorder, whether intellectual, emotional or behavioural, presents
with difficulties in multiple areas and therefore demands a
multidisciplinary holistic approach.
Homoeopathy is a Holistic, individualistic science which was
discovered by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in the year 1790 in Germany
WHAT ROLE DOES HOMOEOPATHY PLAY IN THESE CONDITIONS?
HOMOEOPATHY in itself is a HOLISTIC SCIENCE considers and treats
the ‘entire person’ and not only the mere external
symptoms. Homoeopathic medicines do not act on merely one particular
organ of an individual but it has a much more deeper and central
action on psychoneurodocrinological as well as growth gradient
and hence facilitates the process of development.
Thus homoeopathic medicines
Bring
about moderation in sensitivity disturbances
Improve
hyperactivity and hence enhances the attention span of a child.
Help in
controlling emotional disturbances
Promote
the growth processes and intellectual faculties.
Acts as
immuno modulators and promotes the general RESISTANCE POWER
of the system
Help in
managing underlying neurological, genetic, metallic problems
DO NOT
HAVE any adverse or depressing neuro-physiological side effects.
A carefully selected Homoeopathic medicine brings about a
qualitative change at a wide range of the spectrum in children
with Autism
It essentially helps to a great extent in behaviour modification
to reduce child's hyperactivity, irritability, violence etc.
It thus prepares the child to receive other necessary experiences
for learning like sensory integration, special education etc.
homoeopathy provides good support and makes the much important
job of educators and therapists easier in taking the child
further up on the learning curve.
Thus a harmonious coordination in a team of doctors, psychologist,
educators, therapists and parents is a must in dealing with
the spectrum of AUTISM in its entire range and depth.
Homoeopathy takes into account entire personality structure.
Faulty integration of sensory processes become important factors
for causation and maintainance of various learning disorders.
These children present with various expressions like awkwardness,
clumsiness, hyperactivity, emotional vulnerability etc.
Homoeopathic profiles describe number of these features. Homoeopathic
drugs, in their proving have brought out characteristic features
which we relate to learning disorders.
Makes

Missing steps
Critical interpretation of these patterns bring us to conclude
about the syndrome which is similar to dysfunction of sensory
processing. We see defects in laterality, direction spatial
orientation etc. You get evidence of various perceptual difficulties.
Well selected Homoeopathic medicines have far reaching impact
on the sensory disturbances as well as in modifying behaviours
In children with cerebral palsy who present with disturbances
of movement, tone and co-ordination, homoeopathic medicines
have a positive impact. They also help in modifying behaviour.
Thus Homoeopathic plays a distinct role by:
Influencing
defective "motor patterns" and improving coordination thus
reducing
difficulties of perception
Corrective
the altered state of sensitivity
Improving
behavioural problems
Enhancing
attention span
Managing
underlying neurological and metabolic disturbances.
Controlling
involuntary movements, and improving coordination.
Acting
as immunomodulators
Improving general resistance power of the system without any
adverse or depressing neurological side effects.
Thus impact of Homoeopathic medicines is truly HOLISTIC.
We have given name Symphony to this Holistic Psychoeducational
Approach. Foundation has evolved and implemented Holistic
Psycho Educational Approach. It demands professional and
creative application of its various elements in harmonious
way. Hence we have given name SYMPHONY to this approach.
SYMPHONY
SY = Sensory M = Motor
P = Psychoeducational HO = Holistic
N = Novel Y = Way
SensoryMotorPsychoeducationalHolisticNovelWay
These in know way means, everything is carried out by one
person or one discipline nor it means everything is done by
Homoeopathy. This is truly multidisciplinary approach, but
we need some one to ensure coordination.
Homoeopathic physician’s approach is holistic; hence
he is trained to perceive various deeper psychodynamic factors.
This permits him to grasp these factors in its extent and
depth and deal with them. Thus he is the proper coordinator
who can evolve holistic approach to deal with these monstrous
hydra headed obstacles and facilitate process of learning
so that divine potential of the child is realized and education
is received which is nothing else but “manifestations
of perfection resident within the individual”.
It is knowledge, which confers
powers.
Focus is on the PERSONALITY OF CHILD.
Focus is not on the disease but INDIVIDUAL who is SICK.
Focus in on the society which is ignorant hence sick.
FOUNDATION STRONGLY BELIVES IN HOLISTIC INTEGRATED
CARE THRO’ MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM AS MOST EFFECTIVE
SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM
SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT DEPENDS ON
THE TEAMWORK
HARMONY----COORDINATION -----EFFICIENCY
AUTONOMY WITH ACCOUNTABILITY.
